who's plugging you in
The person behind the rig
I am Michiel Verwimp, a 26-year-old audiovisual technician with a passion for the raw energy and flexibility of the "rock-and-roll" live production world. Based in Belgium, I've been fortunate to work on some of Europe's most famous events and tours, including Tomorrowland, Rock Werchter, and the Nelly EU Tour. I've also worked on various corporate and sports productions, such as the Longines Global Champions Tour in Vienna and the "Share a Coke" European Championship football campaign in Berlin.
Ever since I was a little kid, I would stand in front of the FOH, staring at all those people behind their desks full of buttons. I built my own festivals and stages with Playmobil, Kapla, and K'nex. When I switched to a stage technology programme (TSO) in my fifth year of secondary school, I knew right away that I was in the right place. Before I knew it, I turned my passion into my job.
I've always been fascinated by the technical side of live performance: the unseen mechanics that turn sound and light into an unforgettable experience. That curiosity grew into a profession where I combine hands-on technical skills with a strong sense of teamwork and communication, with a joke here and there.
As an all-round technician, I'm experienced across sound, lighting, rigging, video, and logistics: from loading and configuring full systems, to patching live bands, coordinating intercom and RF systems, driving the truck, and running the show from the floor.
I'm flexible, pragmatic, and efficient, yet also deeply driven and passionate about what I do. I try to make every job as enjoyable as possible, with the necessary seriousness. Whether I'm setting up at a major festival, supporting a touring act, or troubleshooting backstage during a show, I stay calm under pressure and find solutions fast.
I'm eager to keep developing my expertise in live sound and lighting technology, take on more international opportunities, and collaborate with teams that share my dedication to quality and my passion for the job.
